Viswamithra is extremely wise and well-respected, and is presented as calm and unruffled by the world (ex- Leaving when his mission fails abruptly, but without bitterness) but at the same time is definitely presented as getting snappy if things don't go his way.

Dasaratha respects him and wants him to be happy but also is super reluctant to let his son Rama go and fight for Vis, and feels really anxious about it. Maybe because he knows the danger?

"You cannot count on the physical proximity of someone you love, all the time. A seed that sprouts at the foot of its parent tree remains stunted until it is transplanted...Every human being, when the time comes, has to depart and seek his fulfillment in his own way."

*Look up story about Shika who reduced the god of love to ashes for interrupting him

Cool description of desert- first begins by saying how the absolute acridity can't be described, then gives more detail, "the distinction between dawn, noon and evening did not exist here, as the sun seemed to stay overhead and burn the earth" as well as talking about fossils of animals who died of thirst

Rama's first example of destroying evil and demonry in the world- Thataka, desert scorcher demon "but she's a woman"

Mahabali- sent to the underworld by Vishnu who pretended to be a dwarf then took 3 steps to cover the earth, heavens, and then stepped on M's head.

General story structure so far is plot is developing with interludes to tell stories that appear to come up with changes in the setting? ex- Ganga, sparked from seeing the river Ganges, or the story of Indra, the 1000 eyed god which solidly didn't start as eyes. I couldn't find an image of Indra covered in eyes, but he's pictured below:

Sita is the most overdramatic love-stricken princess ever. Reminds me a lot of the song in Les Mis that Cosette sings when she sees Marius the first time.
